Culture in own or another municipality
Share of residents who have regularly engaged in cultural activities in their own municipality/city or in another municipality/city over the past year (visited a museum, exhibition, gallery or historic building, visited a public library, attended a theater/dance performance, concert...). The composite variable was calculated on the original 4-point scale. The 'Never' category includes respondents who answered 'never' for every activity. The 'Occasionally' category includes respondents who reported only limited participation in an activity (average score of less than 2 out of 4). The 'Regularly' category includes respondents who participated in at least 3 activities on average or had a high intensity in a number of activities (score of 2 or higher out of 4). Share of residents who have a diverse circle of friends (d.w.z. friends of non-Belgian origin, with a different sexual orientation, or with a physical or mental disability). A composite indicator was calculated based on the average score on the three items (the respondent had to answer at least two items, the maximum average score is 4). Attitude Towards Diversity
Share of residents who have a positive attitude towards diversity, in particular the presence of people with different backgrounds. A composite indicator was calculated based on the average score on five items (the respondent must have answered at least three items, the maximum average score is 5). (See 'Survey questions' in the detailed indicator.) Respondents with a score of 2.8 or less fall into the 'Negative' category, respondents between 2.8 and 4 fall into the 'Neutral' category. Respondents with a score of 4 or higher fall into the 'Positive' category. This last category corresponds to respondents who, on average, agreed with the statements (all statements were oriented in the same direction). Do you agree with the statements below? People of different backgrounds live together well in my municipality/my city. I would find it useful if activities were organized in my municipality/city where people of different backgrounds get to know each other better.
