New build homes energy label
Average energy label of completed buildings. This always concerns new residential construction files. These statistics are derived from the database with energy performance and indoor climate certificates. Only the certificates of new homes are shown here, according to the year of submission of the file. This reflects the 'buildings completed in this year'. The E-level is a level that represents the overall energy performance and is expressed by the ratio of the normally annually modeled primary energy consumption to a reference value. This is the calculated E-level from the EPB declaration. The E-level is a score that indicates how energy-efficient a building is. The lower the E-level, the more energy-efficient the building is. Note: this value reflects the energy consumption of the dwelling in relation to its surface area. If two houses are otherwise identical, but one is larger than the other, the larger house will normally have a more favorable E-level. As a result, apartments often score worse than houses, while the former generally have a lower expected energy consumption. Municipalities with many new apartments will therefore often score worse.

Energy-efficient homes
Share of energy-efficient single-family homes and apartments based on the energy label (EPC). These are existing single-family homes and apartments with energy label A+, A, or B. Energy Performance Certificate (EPC): an energy performance certificate is a document that shows how energy-efficient a building is, based on an energy score in kilowatt-hours per square meter (kWh/m²) per year. This document has been mandatory since 2008 when selling or renting existing houses and apartments and is valid for 10 years. Based on the energy score, the building is assigned an energy label, ranging from A+ (very energy-efficient) to F (energy-consuming). A+: less than 0 kWh/m² per year A: between 0 and 100 kWh/m² per year B: between 100 and 200 kWh/m² per year C: between 200 and 300 kWh/m² per year D: between 300 and 400 kWh/m² per year E: between 400 and 500 kWh/m² per year F: higher than 500 kWh/m² per year

Energy score of existing apartments, by energy label
Share of existing apartments according to energy label (EPC). Energy performance certificate (EPC): an energy performance certificate is a document that shows how energy-efficient a building is, based on an energy score in kilowatt-hours per square meter (kWh/m²) per year. This document has been mandatory since 2008 when selling or renting out existing homes and apartments and is valid for 10 years. Based on the energy score, the building is assigned an energy label, ranging from A+ (very energy-efficient) to F (energy-consuming). A+: less than 0 kWh/m2 per year A: between 0 and 100 kWh/m2 per year B: between 100 and 200 kWh/m2 per year C: between 200 and 300 kWh/m2 per year D: between 300 and 400 kWh/m2 per year E: between 400 and 500 kWh/m2 per year F: higher than 500 kWh/m2 per year
